Sosyal Medya’yı En İyi Kullanan 100 Üniversite

Student Advisor adlı site Amerika’da sosyal medyayı en başarılı kullanan 100 okulu açıkladı. Birinci sırada Facebook’un kurulduğu Harvard Üniversitesi yer alıyor. Listede sadece Amerika’da bulunan okullar yer alıyor. İkinci sırada yer alan John Hopkins Üniversitesi Homewood insanların kampüsünü gezebilmeleri için bir iPhone aplikasyonu yazmış. Navigasyon ile entegre çalışan aplikasyon kampüsün içerisinde gezilecek nereler var, nasıl gidilir gibi bilgiler veriyor.


Listeye girmiş olan Üniversiteler, yaptıkları ve yapacakları organizasyonları insanlar ile paylaşıyor, olan bir etkinlik ile ilgili fotoğrafları Facebook profillerine yüklüyor ve insanlar ile etkileşim halinde bulunuyorlar. Twitter, YouTube gibi mecralarda da oldukça aktifler. Ayrıca listedeki bütün üniversiteler aynı zamanda bazı dersleri ücretsiz birer podcast olarak iTunes University üzerinden paylaşıyor. Üstelik bu podcastleri dinlemek veya izlemek için Üniversitenin öğrencisi olmak zorunda değilsiniz.

Once you "like" Dartmouth's Facebook page, you get to a welcome page with a note from the president. Our fave: The YouTube channel with Dartmouth Idol competition.

49. Bates College(Lewiston, Maine)Bates nails the social media page and proves they rule with Facebook alumni Pages from 1960 to present.

50. Rollins College(Winter Park, Florida)Rollins reached out through social media to celebrate its 125th anniversary this past year and in the process they boosted Facebook and Twitter followers.

59. Boston University(Boston, Massachusetts)All but invisible home page links to serious social media team that even has a page of BU Hashtags.

60. Berry College(Mount Berry, Georgia)The YouTube video of the "Derivative Rag" by Dr. Eric McDowell, chair of Math Department is not to be missed.

61. Cornell College(Mount Vernon, Iowa)No, not the one in Ithaca (#44). They get snarky about that, and with good reason: This Cornell is smart enough to feature LinkedIn and Foursquare on their home page.

62. College of William and Mary(Williamsburg, Virginia)William & Mary's social media directory, called "social stream", is the most visually engaging page we've seen.

63. Xavier University(Cincinnati, Ohio)Xavier's "Ask the Expert" YouTube series puts staff members on the spot with questions on everything from Oscar nominations to turkey dinners.

64. Oklahoma City University(Oklahoma City, Oklahoma)OCU uses Facebook to document campus traditions like upperclassmen helping freshmen on move in day.

65. Babson College(Wellesley, Massachusetts)The Good: Cutting-edge social media research (yep, it's on SlideShare). The Bad: Home page is inexplicably a social media wasteland that screams 2002.

69. Seattle University(Seattle, Washington)The motto for their Conversation Education program is "stimulating dialogue. Changing the future." Yep, the Redhawks get it - just check out their Facebook wall.

70. Presbyterian College(Clinton, South Carolina)Their virtual college site Blue House that students and alumni can call "home" is one of our favorites.

71. Wesleyan University(Middletown, Connecticut)Great presence on Flickr and iTunes U, but don't expect them to follow you back on Twitter.

78. American Musical and Dramatic Academy(New York, New York)This Performing Arts College stars in social media. You may not find FAME but you will get your avatar on the AMDA World Twitter Wall if you follow them on Twitter - we've never seen this before.

84. Vassar College(Poughkeepsie, New York)The student vs. faculty basketball game on YouTube is 'must see TV' plus Vassar has one of the best uses of newsletters we've seen.

85. Amherst College(Amherst, Massachusetts)We appreciated the immediate YouTube updates chronicling the Amherst College women's basketball team's experience at 2011 NCAA D-3 Final Four.

86. Rush University(Chicago, Illinois)Rush University's virtual campus tour lets you connect and apply directly with the school while online, and provost gives updated semester messages via YouTube.

87. Mount Holyoke College(South Hadley, Massachusetts)Social media being used by college president in her public feud with the Governor of Maine. Site's "Questioning Authority" and "Video Bookshelf" are not to be missed.

88. Bethany College-Bethany(Bethany, West Virginia)Daily blog posts and Bethany trivia questions keeps things interesting, and nice to see Vimeo and Flicker streams linked on home page. Facebook page a non-starter though.

97. Saint Marys College(Notre Dame, Indiana)Last year St. Mary's College created a social-media driven commencement website allowing students to create a "digital keepsake" with photos, streaming video - awesome. Hopefully it wasn't only a one year thing.

98. Allegheny College(Meadville, Pennsylvania)Allegheny encourages instant messaging to access school departments and features a latest Tweets page -- a good idea but wasn't working when we last checked.

99. Millsaps College(Jackson, Mississippi)Among other things, Millsaps' use of Google Calendars leverages the best of social media - highlighting wide range of school events from career fairs, lectures on optimizing memory and even alumni couples dinner.

100. University of Georgia(Athens, Georgia)UGA effectively used social media to promote the 50th anniversary of its desegregation with its Celebrating Courage event and continues to update.
